Lisbon Videocast

On April 17, 2026, a new episode of the videocast "The World in Motion – Environment and Climate Action" was released, available on the Clube de Lisboa YouTube channel. This time, the topic was very important and the conversation was up to par: four young people — Afonso Neves Soares, Andreia Galvão, José Tiago de Sousa, and Joana Guerra Tadeu — came together to discuss, frankly and without simple answers, the future of the planet and the role of each one in this discovery.

For more than an hour, a conversation covered topics that rarely reach the public sphere with this depth: is it still possible to fulfill the Paris Agreement? Who is truly responsible — governments, companies, citizens? How much is it costing, in lives and livelihoods, to delay action? And how to talk about the climate crisis to those who are already tired of hearing about crises?

José Tiago de Sousa brought to the conversation what he knows well: the human dimension of the crisis. For him, talking about climate change is, first and foremost, talking about people — those who have already lost their homes, their fields, their livelihoods. His speech also touched on a point that many ignore: how to continue fighting, organizing and putting pressure on a world that seems increasingly hostile to civil society? There are no simple answers — but the conversation, that is, is worth having.

This episode is part of the debate cycle of the Global Challenges for Development Project, an initiative of the Lisbon Club, the Platform for Sustainable Growth and the Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL), with co-financing from Camões I.P. The programs are recorded and produced in the UAL Media studios.
